The bigger Picture

Recently there has been a huge movement towards changing our ways and trying to solve the massive environmental catastrophe that is heading our way. The UK government has recently passed an announcement 'declaring environment and climate emergency' partly due to recent marches in London as well as scientists recently declaring that we have 12 years before the tipping point is reached.

Yes this is dramatic, but we need a little drama because our home is in big trouble. It is not yet too late, we need big changes yes. But what can individuals change to do their bit?

The problem is very big, but I believe it can be fought on a smaller playing field by the individual. You might say "What can I do? I am only one person." However the smallest changes, if made by many in unison, can bring about change in a huge way.

So what can you do? Practically? This is what I want this blog to become. I myself am not yet waste free, I do not have a low carbon footprint but so far, I have made several changes that are helping. This blog is going to plot my progress, documenting the small changes that one day will lead to bigger ones.

To those people who do not consider the environment at all in their day to day lives I ask you this - On what planet do you live?

Thank you for reading my post, I hope there will be many more.
